Honorable Judges, fellow students:
Good afternoon!
Recently, ther is a heated debate in our society. The college students arethe beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education atextraordinary places. But will we be able to face the challenge and supportourselves against all odds? Will we be able to better the lives of others? Willwe be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of ourcountry?
The cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation, whichwould cringe at the slightest discomfort. But the cynics are wrong. The collegestudents I see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. We helpeach other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargain together, and take parttime jobs to supplement our pocket money.
The cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect theneed for character cultivation. But again, the Liuxue86.com cynics are wrong. Wecare deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seektruth. Last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested inorder to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.
As college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point inour lives. We all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each willprofoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. I believe inall my fellow classmates. Though we are still inexperienced and even a littlebit childish. I believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challengeand take on our responsibilities. We are preparing to assume newresponsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received to makeour world a better place. I believe in our future.

i think this dream is deeply rooted in the future. as we can see, we arenow not far away from violence, poverty, diseases, environmental pollution andeven wars. most of people are in need of what they have never enjoyed. however,i still can stick to my innermost dream, as i still can see the bright lights inour future. i believe, there will be a day when those from the rich counties arereally willing to share what they have with those from the poor countries; therewill be a day when we are surprised to find that the word poverty has long beenout of our memories; there will be a day when we are together to share ourdreams and we will all contribute to making our common dreams come true.
i will not just wait but to take action to live in my dream.

A Brother Like That
A friend of mine named Paul received an automobile from his brother as aChristmas present. On Christmas Eve when Paul came out of his office, a streeturchin was walking around the shiny new car, admiring it.
"Is this your car, Mister?" he said.
Paul nodded. "My brother gave it to me for Christmas." The boy wasastounded. "You mean your brother gave it to you and it didn’t cost you nothing?Boy, I wish . . ." He hesitated.
Of course Paul knew what he was going to wish for. He was going to wish hehad a brother like that. But what the lad said jarred Paul all the way down tohis heels. "I wish," the boy went on, "That I could be a brother like that."
Paul looked at the boy in astonishment, then impulsively he added, "Wouldyou like to take a ride in my car?"
"Oh yes, Id love that."
After a short ride, the boy turned with his eyes aglow, said, "Mister, would you mind driving in front of my house?"
Paul smiled a little. He thought he knew what the lad wanted. He wanted toshow his neighbors that he could ride home in a big automobile. But Paul waswrong again. "Will you stop where those two steps are?" the boy asked.
He ran up the steps. Then in a little while Paul heard him coming back, buthe was not coming fast. He was carrying his little crippled brother. He sat himdown on the bottom step, then sort of squeezed up against him and pointed to thecar.
"There she is, Buddy, just like I told you upstairs. His brother gave it tohim for Christmas and it didn’t cost him a cent. And some day Im gonna give youone just like it . . . then you can see for yourself all the pretty things inthe Christmas windows that Ive been trying to tell you about." Paul got out andlifted the lad to the front seat of his car. The shining-eyed older brotherclimbed in beside him and the three of them began a memorable holiday ride. ThatChristmas Eve, Paul learned
what Jesus meant when he said: "It is more blessed to give . "
